Nacha - Micro-Entry Account Validation Update
Phase 2 of Nacha's Standard practices and formatting of Micro Entries for account validation is effective March 17, 2023. This phase increases the risk management techniques required for originators using Micro-Entries as their commercially reasonable fraud detection system. Originators must ensure the micro-entry credit is greater than or equal to the debit. The account being validated must NOT net negative after the completion of a micro-entry. Additionally, the credit and debit for the micro-entry must be submitted simultaneously to be an approved Micro-Entry validation.
Nacha - Proof of Authorization
Before you debit your customer’s bank account through the ACH Network, you are required to obtain their authorization. Let’s learn exactly what an ACH authorization form is and what information should be included.
An ACH Proof Of Authorization (POA) is a legally required agreement between the payor and the payee that outlines the terms of the transaction. The Automated Clearing House (ACH) overseen by NACHA requires merchants to obtain proof of authorization when a transaction is done and kept for 2 years after the date of the last transaction.

No Cardholder Authorization Dispute Update
Effective April 14, 2023, Mastercard will have revised standards for "no cardholder authorization" disputes. A merchant may provide authorization data from a previous transaction that the cardholder conducted at the merchant as compelling evidence of the cardholder's participation in the disputed transaction in order to challenge a dispute on a merchant initiated transaction (MIT) with reason code 4837. The authorization data must show that the previous transaction was fully authenticated or contained card validation code 2 (CVC 2) data that the issuer verified.

VT Retirement
We are retiring the use of Virtual Terminal and replacing it with a new system, Dex. Dex is so powerful that it fully replaces everything our existing Virtual Terminal does… and then some! As a result, we’ll be retiring VT in the coming months. While you can still use both VT and Dex for a period of time, we encourage you to start using Dex as much as possible to familiarize yourself with the program.

Not currently registered with Dex? Don't worry! We’ll send you an invite soon!
Questions about Dex? We have you covered! Check out our FAQ's about Dex by clicking here. If you've already begun using Dex, we would love to know what you think!
