Encryption, Data Protection, and Compliance 

The MagTek eDynamo is designed with industry-leading security to protect cardholder data at every stage of a transaction. From the moment a card is swiped or dipped, through transmission, and finally to decryption, the eDynamo ensures compliance with strict PCI standards and provides merchants with a secure, reliable payment solution.

Encryption and Data Protection

The eDynamo employs multiple layers of encryption and protection to safeguard sensitive payment data:

• Immediate Encryption
  All card data is encrypted at the point of entry (swipe or dip) and cannot be decrypted locally. Decryption can only be performed by the Magensa Decryption Service, ensuring data remains secure end-to-end.

• 3DES Encryption Standard
  Encryption is based on Triple DES (3DES), which applies the Data Encryption Standard (DES) cipher three times for added strength and resilience against attacks.

• DUKPT Key Management
  For each transaction, eDynamo generates a Derived Unique Key Per Transaction (DUKPT). This ensures that every key is unique, non-reusable, and invalid once the transaction is complete, protecting against replay and interception attacks.

• MagneSafe® Security Architecture
  All transmitted data is protected by MagneSafe®, a security framework designed to exceed PCI regulations. It includes:

  • Strong encryption

  • Secure tokenization

  • Counterfeit card detection

  • Tamper recognition

  • Data relevance and integrity verification

  • Dynamic digital transaction signatures
    Together, these measures validate and protect both the transaction and its individual components.

• Non-Changeable Serial Numbers
  Each eDynamo device has a unique, non-changeable serial number, providing traceability and assurance of authenticity.

Compliance Standards

The eDynamo meets multiple internationally recognized compliance standards, ensuring quality, safety, and reliability:

• FCC – Certification for electronic devices sold in the U.S., ensuring electromagnetic interference remains within Federal Communications Commission limits.

• CE – Confirms compliance with health, safety, and environmental protection standards within the European Economic Area.

• UL – Certifies that the device has been tested against nationally recognized safety requirements published by Underwriters Laboratories.

Supported Card Brands

The eDynamo is compatible with major card brands for both EMV and magnetic stripe transactions:

• Quick Chip EMV and Swipe: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.

  • Supports Visa’s 16- and 19-digit PANs.

  • Supports Mastercard’s 5- and 2-series BIN ranges.

• Swipe Only: Diners Club and China UnionPay.

The eDynamo can be easily integrated with Forte’s payment applications or custom POS solutions:

  Works seamlessly with:

  • Forte Checkout

  • BillPay

  • Dex
    Setup requires:

  • Installing the MagTek SCRA Web API Host Service (MTSCRA).

  • For Forte Checkout, downloading and installing the Wedget keyboard and updating a few lines of code.

• Custom POS Integrations
  You can also integrate the eDynamo into your own POS applications using either the Wedget keyboard or an API/SDK from MagTek. Once EMV or swipe data is captured, your POS application submits it to Forte using the proper AGI or REST fields for secure processing.
