V400c - Setting Up Payments Device Handler

Device handler enables web and native applications to communicate with the V400C Plus by sending and receiving transaction data over a port. The Web Device Handler must be installed and running for Forte Checkout and Secure Web Pay Checkout to connect to the V400C Plus. Merchants can also code their custom web applications to the Web Device Handler to connect to the V400C Plus.

Forte Payment Device Handler

  1. Click the following link to open the browser and download the Payments Device Handler.
  2. This will download a ZIP file, you can extract it by selecting it and clicking “Extract all” in you File explorer window. (Section “A”).
  3. After the extraction you will see an “.exe” file, open it and follow the instruction you will see on screen. (Section “B”)
  4. You can open Windows Services and ensure that the Device Handler is running. Open it by clicking the windows key and typing “Services” Here you will need to search for  “FortePaymentDeviceHandler”. (Section “C”)

Verifone Unified Driver

  1. Click the following link to open the browser and download the Verifone Unified Driver.
  2. This will download a ZIP file. You can extract it by selecting it and clicking “Extract all” in you File explorer window. (Section “A”)
  3. After the extraction you will see other ZIP file called “VerifoneUnifiedDriverInstaller-5.0.5.2-B3” (Section “B”). You can extract it by selecting it and clicking “Extract all” as done before.
  4. Now you can access the folder. Here you will see a Verifone installing manual and two folders, for different operating systems, 64 bits and 32 bits. (Section “C”) Most computers nowadays are 64 bits, however you can verify this by accessing you computer Settings > System > About. 
  5. Finally click the file called “VerifoneUnifiedDriverInstaller” (Section “D”) to start the installation process. Follow the steps prompted in the installing window to succesfully complete it. 
  6. Once the installation is complete, you can open the Device Manager by clicking the windows key and typing “Device”. Ensure the Port is showing “Mx Family POS Terminal (COM9)”.
