Discover Disputes Timeframe Reduction

Please be advised that Discover has announced modifications that have pricing, processing, and/or compliance impacts. Please review the following recap of these changes. All changes are effective October 18, 2019 unless otherwise noted. The below information was previously communicated on March 7, 2019 and is being republished as a reminder.

Dispute Rules Manual -- Disputes Timeframe Reduction (U.S. and Canada)

Effective October 2019, issuers and acquirers will have 10 days, rather than 30 days, after the deadline to respond to a Pre-Arbitration inquiry to initiate a Dispute Arbitration Request.

Effect October 2019, merchants will have 30 days, rather than 45 days, after the chargeback processing date to initiate a representment request.

These changes were optional for April 2019 but mandatory for October 2019.
